Band of Solos is a San Diego-based instrumental progressive rock trio focused on exploration of unbounded guitar influenced galactic journeys. The band’s unique methodology makes use of refined jam band skills while blatantly disregarding established stereotypes and genres. A heavy, melodic, and unpredictable avalanche of unapologetic harmony
awaits the listener.
Established in 2012, Band of solos has been refining their unique sound for over 5 years. The tracks are both memorable and anthemic, feature a variety of dynamic textures from acoustic and alternative, blues,
classical and even ripping death metal solos. The band’s self titled debut album took 6 years to record. During the six years of trials and tribulations required to record this record, the band broke up but managed to reform 3 times — without (destroying the equipment) or otherwise self destructing.
Guitarist Starr Moore is always experimenting with a wide range of expressive styles, including modulation of exotic scales and outside playing in off time signatures. Bassist Shawn Sokol’s dominating base lines featuring alternate tunings and two-handed tapping techniques provide solid backing harmony and foundation.
